Dear stranger,
I built this because every app I opened wanted me faster. Faster to reply, faster to swipe, faster to be seen. None of them ever asked me to say one true thing and then wait.
So Kindredly is slow on purpose, and nothing is sold to make it faster. Wren leaves the second you press send; the days belong to the person at the other end. You are your writing here, and nothing else — no photo, no age, no city. What you keep sealed stays on your phone, and it is kept out of the matching so it can never reach a stranger by accident.

Every one of them is enforced in code, not in a community guideline. A product that says what it will not do can be trusted with what it does.

You are your writing, and nothing else.
No photos, no age, no location, no bio, no swiping. The only thing a stranger ever learns about you is how you put sentences together.

A pool, not a feed — and it's matched.
Your letter goes into the post. The strangers whose writing sits closest to yours see it first. Most letters carry no score at all, and the app says nothing rather than guess.

Fifteen on the desk, five in flight.
Fifteen strangers' letters reach your desk a day. Five answers can be out in the world at once — when one comes home, you can send another. Replies inside a correspondence are never counted.

Their face develops as they write to you.
A correspondent starts as a few floating ink squares and resolves with every letter they send. You come to know someone by reading them.

Names are traded, never awarded.
At five letters each way, either of you may enclose a first name. Nothing happens until the other does. If one of you never does, you stay lovely strangers — and that is allowed.

The journal is not uploaded, and it is kept out of the matching on purpose, so it cannot reach a stranger by accident.

What is Kindredly?
Kindredly is an anonymous penpal app. You write one honest letter, and we find a stranger whose writing is closest to yours. There are no profiles, no photos and no swiping — the only thing anyone sees is what you actually wrote.
How does matching by writing work?
Wren reads the shape of your writing rather than the topic: sentence length, pacing, where you stop, how you punctuate. It compares that pattern with other writers and surfaces your letter first to the ones closest to it. Most letters carry no score at all, and the app says nothing rather than guess.
Is it really anonymous?
Yes. You begin with no name and no photo, and names are never automatic. At five letters each way, either of you may enclose a first name; nothing happens until the other does. Until then, nobody knows who you are.
Is Kindredly free?
Yes. Fifteen strangers' letters reach your desk each day, and you can have five answers out in the world at once — when one comes home, you can send another. Replying inside a correspondence is never counted. There's no feed, no ads, and nothing to scroll. First Class only opens the road to a second kindred and beyond; your first is free, always.
How is this different from a dating app?
Dating apps sort people by appearance and distance. Kindredly sorts by writing, and there's no way to browse anyone at all — you can't search, filter or swipe. You can only write, and be written to.
What if nobody writes back?
It stays in the post — open to anyone, seen first by the writers closest to you. One silence never ends a letter; someone else can still pick it up.
Can I stop writing to someone?
Any letter can be ended in one tap, with no notification sent and no reason required. You can also report a letter for a human to review.
Who can join Kindredly?
Kindredly is for people aged 18 and over, anywhere in the world. The site reads in English, 中文 and Español; the app in English, Español, Português and Bahasa Indonesia.
